Master's Degree in Nursing
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program helps registered nurses further their knowledge set and develop additional skills. Nurses seeking advancement opportunities in the healthcare industry will also benefit from this program. Nursing theory is combined with advanced practice concepts in order to help graduates succeed in the culture, mission, and organization of any healthcare or educational institution, regardless of its size.
There are three main areas in the MSN program: the core, the major, and the cognate. The core comprises the main topics of a Master of Science in Nursing degree: the influence of Nursing research on the advanced practice of nursing, ethical Nursing issues, and the theory of Nursing. Advanced course work in Nursing, management of families and aggregates, administration, and education are all included in the major. The cognate comprises class work in data-based decision making, healthcare finance, and healthcare environment.
The following admission requirements are expected to be met by all applicants to this program:
1) Registered Nurse License
2) Nationally or regionally accredited U.S. bachelor degree
3) 3 or more years' work experience in health care.
