Nursing
There is a positive job outlook for professionals entering the nursing industry. Over the next decade nursing positions are supposed to increase at a higher rate than the median rate for all professions. Because there are so many different areas within nursing, there will continue to be many opportunities for long-term employment. In addition, as the average age of nurses continues to climb, and more approach retirement, there will be a great need for qualified professionals to fill those positions.
Because more and more nurses are approaching retirement and because fewer and fewer people are enrolling in nursing schools, many states are experiencing or expect to experience an increase in demand for qualified nurses. As a result of this shortage, the industry will have to change the way it recruits registered nurses, offering education assistance, improved benefits and more attractive schedules.
